  • Your family history: Both your family history and your partner’s family history are important in providing information about any possible genetic conditions or disorders that may be passed onto your child. This information can also let Dr. Tepper know if he should perform any extra tests to watch out for the development of certain conditions during your pregnancy. A history of high blood pressure, diabetes, birth defects, twins or multiples, mental disorders, deafness, or blindness are all important parts of your health history that you should share during your appointment.
  • Your medical history: In order to fully understand your health prior to pregnancy, Dr. Tepper will speak with you regarding any past surgeries, pre-existing medical conditions, medications you are taking, and history of allergies.
  • Your OB/GYN history: Dr. Tepper will also speak with you regarding your OB/GYN history, which may include any previous pregnancies you have had, contraceptive use, your menstrual history, STD or STI history, and more.
  • Lifestyle and habits: It is important that you follow a healthy lifestyle during your pregnancy, which includes eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking and drug use. Dr. Tepper will speak with you regarding your current habits and if they need to be improved upon to ensure a healthy and successful pregnancy. He may also speak with you regarding any possible pregnancy risks, including social, behavioral, environmental, or biomedical factors.
