Once a woman becomes pregnant, she will need to visit her OB/GYN regularly to ensure that she is healthy, along with her baby. Ultrasound services are included as part of obstetrical care. An OB/GYN ultrasound is an imaging method using high-frequency waves to create an image of a woman’s internal structures including her bladder, uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix, and ovaries. Ultrasound can be used to confirm and evaluate a pregnancy, for regular gynecological screening purposes, and to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions in the pelvic area.

MEET DR. ALEX TEPPER

Welcome to my practice. Let me introduce myself and my practice philosophy. I am a board certified OB/GYN in practice for over 20 years and have been a solo-practitioner on the Upper East Side of Manhattan since 2000. All deliveries are performed at The Mount Sinai Medical Center where I went to medical school and at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Dr. Tepper and his staff work closely with The Mount Sinai Medical Center, Lenox Hill Hospital, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Associates of New York to provide personalized, attentive care to his patients.

Obstetric ultrasounds are used during many different stages of pregnancy, including to confirm a pregnancy, to determine the due date, identifying the presence of twins or multiples, to discover the sex, size, and position of the baby, and screen for birth defects.  Ultrasound is also often used as a tool for gynecological medicine to evaluate and diagnose reproductive conditions in women and girls. This may include cysts, tumors, fibroids, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, and more.
